Villa Nurbs. Jenni Tankard

Villa Nurbs by Enric Ruiz Geli (Cloud 9) is a private residency in Costa Brava, Spain. Some say the building looks like a spaceship from the street, but the overhead view looks like an eye of an insect.

The building was made in a modeling software program called NURB. The main materials used were ceramic wave-like tiles, Corian panels by DuPont, and ETFE segments by Covertex. The ceramic pieces on the North wall were produced from digitally-cut molds. The ceramic tiles are shaped in a way that mimic the scales of a reptile. These ceramic panels also protect against solar radiation.
Here is the first stage of the project. This is a picture with the metal framing.
These are the Corian panels.

This picture shows the ceramic panels being placed onto the metal rods.
Here is a view of all the ceramic panels in place to complete the building.

Some nice shots of the futuristic house.
