Ammar Eloueini Lecture. Jenni Tankard

Ammar Eloueini showed some very interesting projects during his lecture, and they definitely opened up my eyes when it comes to designing. Now, when thinking about designing curtain walls, I will think of the designs by Ammar. By using materials like polycarbonate, elements like windows or overhangs are not necessarily needed. Materials like polycarbonate will allow light to pass through, but will not let light pass through like transparent glass would. The shapes and forms that Ammar came up with from different programs like Rhino was also very inspiring. It is very important to Ammar that computer programs do not get in the way of his imagination. These programs can allow you to get forms that can curve in ways like a fabric curtain may. This has definitely changed the way I may approach curtain walls because before this lecture, I automatically thought of flat, vertical curtain walls. Curtain walls do not need to be in this standard form, especially with technology these days. The technology is allowing us to be creative, so we should take advantage of it!
